An aspiration realised
Always wanted to add another simple dress watch to my collection and started to look at Calatravas although they were out of my budget range, just for a bit of fun. Came across one of these (a 3893) with a full set that I could just barely afford thanks to a small inheritance, so snapped it up. I liked the Bauhaus style which seemed an unusual variation to usual Patek dress watches. Mine came to me in Australia from Japan without a strap to avoid CITES hassles so I’m now looking at some nice custom options. I think I managed to grab it because the photos on Chrono24 were very poor (this is a stock photo from another site) and they mentioned damage - a scratch and a chip in the crystal - so, although I received extra photos on request, I’ve been sweating. Arrived today and honestly I can’t see any perceptible damage so greatly relieved. So now I’m a Patek owner, a phrase I never thought I’d say.
I’m retired. I own lots of watches but am not really a watch nerd - I can’t quote calibres off the top of my head! I like the aesthetics and mechanics of watches. I guess I’ve been collecting, sort of...

Yes, I’ve had a few straps from Artisan and they were my first thought. Given the lug width is only 16mm it means any strap I get won’t be interchangeable on most of my other watches so I will explore options for a while before dropping a reasonable sum on a strap as it will be a one off for this piece. Thanks.
