Input needed: finding a 38-40mm ani/digi that's not gshock
I love the utility of watches like the gshock but don't like the look or size. Or any Casio, for that matter (mea culpa).
So I was wondering if you all knew of something Similair to what is pictured? Hoping to find something under $1k USD

There are several others that are over your price range by Tag Heuer and Breitling, but those three might give you a start.

If you have a lot of money, have or had Rado some very exclusive ultra elegant black thin ceramic digi-ana models...
And Casio DID also make some excellent models (about 30 years ago) that was very elegant - but my first photo is my worst ever, so following watch does look a lot better in real - sorry for that...
That one is only 6mm thick!

The X-33 from Omega is both ana-digi and definitively not a G-Shock, but at 45mm and with Omega's prices I doubt it's what you are looking for.
