I’m all for novelties…

… but come on, $800 US for a Sega Genesis NH35 jump hour?

Image

I think this might be a little bit on the high side. As a gentleman who grew up with the Megadrive (which we had it in the UK) it’s a nice novelty idea, but it’s not really one for us Megadrive kids, it’s too hip… some of us are pushing 50.

But here we are. I’m sure it’s decent in terms of quality. It’s not much to look at from the “exhibition” perspective. Perhaps it’s the price for me… you don’t really put an NH35 in an $800 watch regardless of the dressing. Paulin Neo’s are £450, and those are with a anOrdain produced dial, and that is a stretch. I do have a Maharishi with an NH05 which was up to £600 RRP, but I did not pay that for mine, and it was at the upper limit of acceptable to me for what it was. I think the £230 I paid for my Spinnaker Piccard and Hass x MCP were just right, but not RRP. It is what it is.

You’re welcome if this is up your street. Feel free to send me a finders fee.

At least you get a display case back to see that sterile movement 🤌🤪

Absolutely - show what we all need to see. The cynic in me definitely has more to say, but hey, if you needed one of these in your life then I’ve shown you where to get one.

Yeah definitely a 'jump' in price (sorry😄) very niche watch, suppose you pay for nicheness. Loved the mega drive, streets of rage n sonic, days before the PlayStation. Ought to get one really, but too much of a 'jump' for me (ok that's the last) cheers though, interesting watch🧐

Gun Star Heroes - that was the game for me on that system. That and Shadow of the Beast (appreciate that was an Amiga port).

Joking aside wonder if the hefty price is due to royalties with Sega 🤔

At initial glance, I assumed it’s some “smart” watch from how it looks.

Think I prefer this style👍

I really like it but the price stops me in my tracks.

Variations on a theme… I have nothing against the jump hour, but I’m not sure $800 for a novelty NH35 powered one is necessarily the best value for money.

I thought it was going to be $250-300 when I did the unthinkable and clicked “discover more” on Instagram. $800 made me spit out my coffee.

$400 would be a lot of royalties, tongue firmly-in-cheek when I say that…

Anicorn seem to be massively expensive, so I’m guessing limited runs would make production costs higher, and hey, whatever…

These are pretty sick. I don’t think it’s an actual jump hour though, just moves slowly. Every one shows the hour dead center becaise the minutes are at the top of the hour. If it is a jump hour then it’d def be worth $800 because you have to modify the nh35. I think $800 is a lot but not insane, it’s pretty unique.

It looks like a jump hour in terms of the presentation, but it will be similar to their Series 000 with the concentric “hands” and continuous rotation. Perhaps I should have put “jump hour” in brackets - looks like a duck, sounds like a foghorn. Series 000 btw - $410… $390 for a faceplate and SEGA licence is a lot of uptick, but hey, I think it’s a little bit high.

There are alternatives 😁

The least they could do is add in some hedgehog!

Absolutely - vintage SEGA digital watches. I’ll take 4 for the price.

EXACTLY - or Alex Kidd (showing my age here). The irony being, if this was a Master System, I’d probably be buying it right now. Now THAT was a great system. Sonic The Hedgehog on the Master System was a very good performer, and my muscle memory actually knows where all the Chaos Emeralds are.

😄. For $300 it would already be featured in my WRUW. For $800, I'm looking at other watches.

Maybe we'll find it on ebay in a little while. ..... at a decent price.
