Been interested in watches for three years now and now have the four in the photo (plus an old Apple Watch buried away somewhere in a drawer). The Seiko on the left will always be there (first gift from my family), and the Longines is happily my go to nice/formal watch (most recent gift from the family). Will potentially move on from the middle two (the timex was a £20 spot purchase). So the “challenge” this year will be for potentially a diver and field watch. Potentially also an exercise/beater watch. Looking to keep it at five max so one spare spot at the moment and any others will have to swap out.

Nice collection!  Since you clearly asked, “which field, diver, and beater watch should I buy,” I will tell you.

Field: Get a Hamilton Khaki Field. You can get the mechanical, automatic, or Murph. Up to you.

Diver: You need something with color, something from the Mido Ocean Star Collection Should work. They have a GMT that could tick another box for you as well.

Beater: Get a G-Shock. CasiOak or something from the 5600 line.

Congratulations!  I saved you hours of research and agony. Now you can complete your collection and enjoy your new watches!

Haha. You read my mind perfectly! (Although hours of research is not necessarily agony…) I’m in no hurry to go into any rash purchase (just got my perfect longines for Christmas) but yeah you’ve hit the nail on the head. For the field watch, Hamilton does spring to mind (probably khaki field). I’m toying also with the seiko alpinist, and as a fun exercise considering IWC and an explorer (yes I know I’m mixing pilot/field drinks and also relatively unrealistic at the moment). Spot on with the need for colour! would love recommendations on this (will check out the mido range now). And yes, have been waiting for the right moment to “sneak in” a g shock without my wife noticing…

LOL, those are just the obvious suggestions, but they are obvious for good reason.  I almost adeed “or an Alpinist” to my Hamilton suggestion. The Longines Spirit is also one you should consider. It’s technically a pilots watch, but with field watch vibes and comes in a variety of colors and sizes.

For additional color options, Doxa, Zodiac, Squale, and Oris are good ones to “dive” into.

Finally, if you want to delay your purchasing of a new watch for months or even years, do a full in depth comparison of all Casio G-Shock and ProTrek models. They have something for everyone and at every price point.
