Watch winder question

Could do with a winder as have an automatic that I wear a couple of times a week. Currently I wind it manually to keep it going but not so sure this is good as it has a screw in crown (Omega SMP).

Is a cheaper winder from Amazon worth it such as the attached for £29 or should I go for something more expensive (without spending a fortune)?

If you're wearing the automatic watch a couple times a week, why would you need to wind it at all? The Omega SMP power reserve is 55 hours. So as long as you're wearing it every 2 days you should be fine.

If you are intent on getting a winder, buy a quality one. They're going to be quieter operating and also has features like not winding all the time.

You need to be worried about magnetization of your watch. Cheaper winders tend to have less shielding. Look at Wolf winders and you will see the difference in quality.

Good to know, thanks.

If I wear it say Monday and Wednesday then it's sat for 4 days i.e. 96 hours. Mine is the older SMP with 48 hour reserve. Thanks for info though. I used to just give it a shake but it wasn't sufficient to keep it going.

I avoid WOLF like the plague. Had a horrendous customer service experience with them.

Yes their customer service sucks. But the winders are a work horse.

I’ve got that exact one, keep my Hamilton on it and it’s fine for the ££.

I have 4 watch Amazon winder for 4 years now and works fine. I also like that it runs as much as needed to keep the watch preety much at same level of reserve as when I put them on. No noise and has additional 6 watch storage. Never understood why buying a 10x more expensive winders as this one does the job too

Well, I bought a cheap winder way back when and it wouldn't even turn a watch completely, not enough power. Then we got a Wolf, albeit on sale yet brand new, and it is a workhorse. It really doesn't get used that much, for various reasons, but it handles any watch with ease. It's never given us any trouble, is way out of warranty, so I can't speak to their customer service as we have never contacted them.

BTW, I have to agree SpecKTator's comment above,
