No Date Sub, model 5513 from '79. This watch has been on my wrist for over 40 dives including caves, a ship wreck, down 240 ft when no sun is visible and you follow your bubbles to know which way is up, kelp gardens, also on several night reef dives. Now it just brings back memories. Do any of your watches bring back memories?

What a beautiful watch! You cannot place a value on memories... I have an 86' GMT Master II with similar stories only in the air, not under the sea.

Question: Was the minute hand replaced at some point? Lume looks newer.

Yes, I sent it to Rolex for service. They sent it back with a tiny bag of parts, within was the hands which had a slight bits of corrosion (the reason I sent it in is I was not sure it was sealed) , the black ring gasket, and the crown which I must have bashed. That is a warning, Rolex treated it like a tool. Lesson learned. 😭

Understand. At least they returned the parts and you could put the hands back on if you so desire. My GMT II is in for service with local Rolex watchmaker because Rolex/Dallas insisted they could change any part they determined needed changing. It will be an heirloom to my son in two years when he turns 50 and I am not going to have Rolex mess with the patina. Service only thank you. Rolex acts like its their watch and you are only renting it...

I wish you where right, somewhere is a little Green leather wrapped wood box with a few links and that bag of parts. I have not seen it in decades. Maybe I can buy some corroded hands. I am happy you will have this heirloom for your son. BTW, small world. I live in North Dallas.
