What’s your second honeymoon watch?

I’ve fallen madly in love again with my Squale Montauk. I lusted after this watch before I bought it, was obsessed with it when I first got it, but then for some reason went through a long period when I hardly wore it at all. I even considered selling it.

I decided to give that some time before making a decision, and then one day I looked in my watch box and thought “oh hey you, you’re a pretty one, what’s your name?” I’ve been wearing it regularly ever since. Pictures cannot ever represent just how beautifully the dial catches and plays with the light. The proportions are damn near perfect, and even with a green dial I’ve found that it pops with whatever else I’m wearing. As a bonus, the bracelet puts to shame every other one that I own, including watches that I paid significantly more money for. I love everything about this watch.

Have you had a similar experience?

I had a similar experience with my Sinn 556 (which I’m actually wearing today). I liked it for the first few days, but I had a hard time bonding with it. I decided to sell it, but never actually posted it up for sale. After a few weeks I decided to give it one more try and I finally discovered a real appreciation for it. It has been in my regular rotation ever since and has become one of my top 5 favorites.

I wish I could have similar experience with my wife. Open the box and "hey you, you are a pretty one, what's your name?

That's just a joke. I love my wife to the moon and back.

Yes I did experience something similar with my first Yema Superman. I backed their Kickstarter campaign because I liked the idea of a French brand revival and the ability to chose from two sizes. The honeymoon was short because of this problem:

The gap caused by length of the lugs was a complete turn off for me, and since the lug's distance is 19mm it just made impossible to find a fitted strap able to close the gap. I was so disappointed that I nicknamed the watch "The Supergap" and left it to gather dust in the winder.

Months later I decided to stop ignoring the fact that I spend money on a watch that I was actively avoiding wearing and ordered a grey Mirage strap from Erika's Originals. The transformation was so great that it's back to being called "Superman" and it's one of my most worn items from my collection.

Hmmmm, no not really, but I am now reminded that I haven’t worn my green sunburst in a while…
