What a difference a day (strap) makes

As I mentioned in my last post about this watch, I try not to buy leather for the most part, but I’m not one of those fanatics who stamps their feet and points fingers from atop my high horse either. As much as I enjoy this watch, it’s been missing something, and the single-pass NATO it was on previously left me feeling cold. It needed something else.

The other night (perhaps with the aid of a little bourbon) I decided to say [carnal knowledge] it, take @foghorn’s advice, and buy the OEM Vario bund for my 1918.

The moment I switched out the strap, the watch came alive. Just . . . wow. I really liked it before, but now I‘m head-over-heels in love with it. It makes me want to grab an Enfield, join the BEF, and head straight for the Western Front.* I think it’s gorgeous, and it’s going to be hard to wear anything else for a while.

Nailed it,great look. Totally in keeping with the watch.

We need to make a new kind of bund strap. Maybe denim bund? Or some kind of canvas and rubber hybrid?

Great looking watch.  I purchased a Vario bund strap for my Hamilton Khaki Field watch.  As soon as I put the bund strap on my watch, it made me want to get on a motorcycle and jump a six-foot high, barbed-wire fence.*

I’ve been thinking the same thing. It’s crazy how few options there are for decent “vegan” leather straps. If I didn’t have the fine motor skills of a drunk gorilla, I’d like to take a stab at making one.

I really must say I wants it
