Nope, it never was really either, they couldn't even do that properly. Regardless of that it's still a totalitarian regime run by a brutal dictator that pretends to operate as a democracy which is actually just a sham.

Russia being a capitalist state. It may masquerade as being so, but under Putin is decidedly communist. It is a dictatorship and freedom is suppressed, including a free market.
