Ebel watches

Curious what if any experience any watch crunchers have with Ebel watches?

Only this one… super silky on the wrist. I believe one their chronographs has the same movement as the Zenith el Primero and Rolex Daytona…

Wow, they buy El Primero moments for their chronos? That’s cool! I think some of their brackets are pretty interesting.

The Sportwave I think it’s called.

But yeah the Ebel 1911 I think has the Zenith movement that is also used in old Daytonas

None, but I recently became aware of them, and I'm definitely interested. The history of the company if very interesting. Right now I'm hunting for one of these:

I was walking through Eaton Centre one day a few years ago here in Toronto when I noticed Ebel had returned from the dearly departed of watch brands, a quick investigation with a surly clerk revealed the truth that it was not the watches that I wore back in the late 80s when my brother, a childhood buddy and I established a small design firm to make our grey city more beautiful. The brand had a gorgeous ad campaign proclaiming their watches as THE ARCHITECTS OF TIME. We all 3 fell hard for Ebel which were famously on the wrists of Sonny Crockett and Tubbs? on Miami Vice, the flamboyant television program developed by Michael Mann. The Ebel Chrongraphs were fitted with El Primero movements but there was also a premium quartz line of Ebel watches that were light years ahead of more boring manufactures on the market. I owned several Ebel timepieces including a lovely mechanical world time watch in gold. Eventually I sold off my watches to a pre own watch seller when there was no agent here in Canada, servicing was expensive and a nightmare: the thin sapphire crystal sandwiched to the bezel of my quartz diver cracked when I accidentally hit a post on a job site, watch was shipped to Manhattan to repair, resulting in a egregiously high bill. My apologies, I have been reflecting about watches that are no longer current. I have not wish any experience with the contemporaneous Ebel timepieces which I suspect would disappoint me. I can recommend Breitling which was the brand that supplanted my Ebel watches, lol.
