Tudor Pelagos FXD Quality

Hi folks,

First time posting here. Looking forward to talking all things watches!!

I see a lot of Tudors on here so wanted to gauge people's experience long term with the quality of their watches.

In under a year of owning a Tudor Pelagos FXD I've managed to scratch the sapphire crystal (faint line from 2 to 10 o'clock) and the ceramic bezel (between 12 and 1). I have the same wearing habits with my other watches and haven't been able to do this, even with aluminum bezel and mineral crystal.

Love the watch as a daily wearer, but not so happy with how its holding up. Any similar experiences from Tudor or non Tudor owners out there.

Thanks!

Welcome and beautiful watch. I wish I had a Tudor to tell you my personal experience. Though I will say like any watch that gets a lot of wrist time, damage is bound to happen, no matter how tough the sapphire or hard the titanium. Enjoy the watch and the time marked by the imperfections.

I would chalk this up to bad luck more than anything else. Sapphire and ceramic are very durable, but they're not immune to surface damage. They can scratch with surprising ease by coming into contact with certain materials that you could easily bump into during an average day. Granite countertops have earned a notorious reputation from collectors for scratching up some very nice high end watches over the years.

Thanks!! I guess I'm used to damage on cases and bracelets, new to the crystal/bezel damage. It's definitely a keeper!

Thanks! Considering this watch spends some daily time doing the dishes, the granite could definitely be responsible. Going to enjoy the battle scars! Just making sure I'm not missing something

Can't say I've ever damaged the crystal or ceramic on my Seamaster, but that FXD is gorgeous and is the sort of watch that when it gets inevitably scratched and scuffed will only add to the tough tooly vibe and not detract at all ( unlike my blingy thing)

Other than that how's the accuracy & reliability? I assume it's as comfortable as it looks?

Cool watch, the most appealing Tudor by far me & I'd love to add one in the future 👍🏻

On the plus side good to hear ceramic can pick up some patina too.

While I did once see a post about a quality issue with a Pelagos, I can't say I've ever had any with my Tudors. In fact, think my BB58 sits alongside the Rolexes I've worn in terms of build quality. However, I've not had the pleasure of any of the higher echelon models.

To each their own, but with the design ethos behind this particular watch and Tudor in general, i.e.- "The shield protects the crown.", I'd say wear it happily.

Now the watch is yours....

As far as scratching goes, as others have stated, nothing is impervious. And honestly I'm glad you using your tools! But just my .02 😎

Y’a, try not to worry about it. S*** is going to happen and you don’t really know how one of your other would have held up if it took the same hit that scratched this one anyway.

I haven't timed it but I've worn it for a month straight, didn't notice any time issues. It's my most comfortable watch, sits perfectly on my wrist, not too light not too heavy. Definitely recommend it!

That's one way of looking at it!! I'm shifting my mindset to appreciating the patina rather than disliking the material quality.

Thanks!! I definitely give all my watches a hard time equally. The Pelagos is building it's personality! Just going to enjoy the patina!

Yeah I guess so, nothing is 100% scratch proof, so just going to enjoy it!

Appreciate the responses!! I'll keep enjoying this watch and adding to the patina. Great to have a community of like minded people to talk to!

No watch is indestructible. Eventually you will get scratches, but....it will still give you a good time (no pun intended!). Considering the scratch, it still serves its purpose to give you the time 😉

It sure does it's job without fault!
