Christopher Ward 36mm Twelve Now Live

The Twelve 36mm Loupe Landing

A slim ‘dodecagonal’ case. An extraordinary integrated bracelet. And a textured 3D dial that’s impossible to ignore. Available as a steel automatic or a titanium chronometer.

Ironically they are heavily emphasizing how these are unisex watches, yet they went out of their way to change the indices on the white dial version to rose gold. This combined with the small size makes it feel distinctively feminine to me. Bummer as I had been waiting all summer for the white dial 36mm to drop.

Have to agree with you. The rose gold indices on the white dial 36mm are a strange move and a deal breaker for me as well. 😕

I agree 💯! The rose gold hands and indices in SS watch case looks feminine to me as well. I hope CW can see this and re-design.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question. Why would you expect CW to make watches for you?

I absolutely understand it is a bummer to wait for something that eventually don't fit your specifications/style, but as a woman who 99% of the times can't buy the gorgeous watches you guys post because 1) they're too big or 2) if they come in smaller sizes, they're usually quartz (this really triggers me), I am genuinely interested in your opinion.

I also think it is a little bit of a stretch from CWs side to call the white 12 an unisex model. From my perspective, I'm so used to not being able to buy the watches I like, I don't even get frustrated about it or expect any brand to so anything about it and really enjoy when smaller watches are released.

I don’t think it’s particularly feminine. It’s at the very least different and for me, refreshing. I’m in the camp that likes and buys mixed metals whether it’s steel and good, rose gold and steel, etc.

·

Looks like the 36 has also lost the date.

As for the white with rose gold. I actually like the look.

·

I was thinking the exact same thing. Proper white and black/slate dial but they have done the same as Tissot did when they first did a 35mm mechanical and made it a female watch (at least to me). That said some nice colour ways for the other 3

I didn’t read the original post the same way you did. I think it’s great colours all round and great that CW is making watches that will expand their reach however when you market a unisex product when one (to me anyway) has feminine tones then there are 3 unisex watches left and all in colour. This makes them a bit more specialised for me. If a white and black was offered then it’s simply more flexible if you’re more conservative in your choices. I was also hopeful of a white dial. To be honest what I really wanted is a better movement in the steel case with a colour I like. But as you correctly pointed out they are not making this for me which is why I will not be buying one. I have other CW on order so I do like the brand.

I like it, the dial is very lovely, but not for me at £1k.

Is it only rose gold that is feminine, or does any gold signify a woman's watch? Google "men's watch rose gold," and you will see many examples of watches.

Now, if it was bright pink, I might agree, though one of my favorite shirts is quite pink, and no one has ever accused me of being terribly feminine (not that I would be offended if someone did. It's good to break stereotypes).

Good point, no idea why things appear masculine or feminine, I’m sure there will be designers on here that can take on that slippery subject however to me when I see this watch in particular it looks remarkably similar to historical ladies watch colours and style. Rose gold = cool, I love the Yacht-Master in rose with the rubber strap…yes pls! so I don’t think the material is male/female

I didn't mean in in that way at all. I just find it odd that despite marketing this as a unisex watch they changed the design of the white dial version to make it look more like a ladies' watch (in my opinion). It just so happens that a white dial 36mm twelve was on my wish list so I was a bit disappointed in the release (but my wallet is happy).

If these models appeal to you, that is great! I have felt some of the similar struggles as you, being a short man with a 6" wrist, I find most modern watches are either too big for me or otherwise come with diamonds, etc. which are not my preference.

However, it seems that lately midsize watches are becoming more popular, so we will be able to enjoy more options than before.

I don’t have any issues with the colors or sizing. But the indeces at 12 look like fangs to me. 🧛🏾‍♂️
