G-shock Sapphire crystal modification complete!
As previously posted I scratched the face of my G-shock and declared to this forum that I am in fact a complete fanny and that I couldn’t cope, so I ordered a sapphire crystal from Ali express and it came today. The mod is easy to do but i don’t have a press for the face so I improvised. I used a large drift in my drill press with a section of 10mm hard rubber. It popped out easy enough and with some careful alignment the new one went straight in. Lessons - take more photos during disassembly (it took a good 5-10 mins to work out the 12 o’clock position). If you don’t have some sort of a press don’t even attempt this as you will not get it back in. My watch vice was perfect for holding the case (no surprise there). So now all is well with the Gshock. Now I know how it all comes apart I’m very confident about hands and chapter ring change, that’s for another day. Any questions please feel free to reach out.
