I think depends on body type, and the eyes of the beholder. To me, if you are short and skinny wide bracelet might not look so good.. tall and skinny it would. Same for Short and stocky wide bracelet will look good.. short skinny probably not so much.
Similar to yours I think. Just popped this straight end jubilee on this steel cased nite last night and I love it. The original watch came on a riveted pilot style leather strap that I couldn't ever get a good fit with, other straps didn't really work with it but I love it on this Geckota brand bracelet. Finally I'll wear this piece a little bit more.
The general rule, or so I read somewhere, is that the best place for your watch to sit is snugly above the wrist. I'm used to wearing mine a little loose to account for comfort, but when I set up my newly acquired Seiko 5 GMT I made sure to set the micro-adjustments on the clasp to the middle, and then size the bracelet so that it's snug. If it gets uncomfortable, I can always use the micro adjustment to let it out a bit.
So far so good, but I'm having to pull up the sleeve of my sportcoat just to see my new watch :)
