My Rolex Air King 114210 - Explorer Dial

Rolex Air King 114210 Blue Sunburst Dial. Same movement as the Explorer1 but (and this is just my humble opinion) a touch more class.

Wears fabulously with anything from a DJ to Jeans.

That is lovely.

That is lovely.

Thank you, I have always thought so. It's one of the few watches I would never part with.

I'd love to pair my modern one with a vintage one from the 50s.

I admit after getting this one I did look around at the vintage Air Kings but good examples seem to be like rocking horse droppings. Nice to talk to someone who appreciates Rolexes most under hyped watch as much as I do though. If you do find that vintage example I would look forward with deep envy to that first wrist shot!

Wonderful Rolex blue dial on steel, hard to beat that combo. Wonderful proportions and sleek from case to oyster. Bezel gives it that slight vintage vibe. What a great watch!

Thank you Boss 🙂 I agree with every word. I have had this for 4 years and I never get bored of the colour. The engine turned bezel is so practical as well, doesn't show the scratches like an OP polished bezel.

Absolute stunner; love this reference

I see we nearly match as you are lucky enough to own the 114270 explorer. Excellent taste sir.

It is a fantastic looking watch. I love the color of the dial and would take one over an Explorer any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

·

Love it. Is that 34 or 36 mm? The 36mm OP with blue dial and Arabics is also lovely

It has become my favorite watch now!!!!

It's a 34mm case BUT don't let that put you off. If you are interested find somewhere to try one on as the OP case wears bigger than you think. It is a mindset switch if you are used to big watches but I have a 7 inch wrist and I love the way it wears. It's the polar opposite of "bling".

Not sure I can't bear the responsibility of feeding in to a fellow addicts habit 😅

Thank you Kevin, it was a either / or decision at the time, I don't regret my choice one bit.

I feel the same about my often under appreciated Rolex.

We share the same taste! I love the Milgauss and especially the second hand! The only reason I haven't looked at one is the size at 40mm. I just like smaller watches these days.

I can appreciate that.

It’s Anthony Bourdains Rolex but with an Explorer dial, neat

I always thought it looked great!! Not only the blue color but also that it doesn’t have a merc hour hand. I hope to be able to acquire one of those beauties at some point.

I know what you mean about the Mercedes handset, I have nothing against it it's just that so many watches have copied it these days it's become commonplace. I like to have something different.

I wish you luck in your search, and if you want my advice, if you find the one you want and it's in good condition (and in your budget) go for it! Mine has more than doubled in value since I bought it 4 years ago and the blue dial seems to have added 500 GBP minimum to the value over all other colour variants. People just like blue I guess!
