Omega James Bond 60th anniversary

Would you buy it, if available? And a question, do you think these Bond watches will hold their value better than a “regular” Omega over time?

You asked two question. Which is the question for the poll?

Yes I would.

Not particularly.

Would you buy it is the question.

·

I'd buy it purely for that caseback animation.

·

IMHO. It’s this one or the SMP 2531.80. Or both

Yes, I would buy a Bond watch no problem! I personally like the Commander's Watch, but the 60th Anniversary is good too. Do I think they'll go up in value? No, not really, the Commander's for example was produced in 2017 with 7007 units made and retailed for $5000 and today in 2024 I can go on eBay right now and my first search result is priced at $5695 and most of them are under $7500. Maybe one or two of them will go up (like when the NTTD first came out) but overall no, there are far too many versions for all of them to go up drastically.

Different era bond, different watches, so, no. To me, the most interesting usage of a watch in bond is seiko era.

If you are looking for advise, the general advise is to buy what you want.

You could reach out to a forum to ask for opinions, but ultimately you would have your preference.

On regards to investment, no body can see into the future and most watches do not increase in values. Thus most of the comments in the forum would advise against buying for investing.

Most beautiful SMP 300 out there imo.

Oozes elegance and refinement.

I owned the 60th and it was a stunning watch!! The only problem I had was it not having micro adjustments.

Good comments. Thanks for weighing in.

Owned? So, you moved it on because of the micro adjustment issue?

Yes mainly and I just wanted something else.

I wouldn’t buy any of the bond watches. I like the looks of the titanium version, but it’s to light for me on the wrist. Furthermore the 88xx movement is an entry level movement in the Omega catalog. You can get 89xx movements for less money in the Aqua Terra or Planet Ocean line. I’d always go for a Planet Ocean over any recent bond version.

Regarding price I wouldn’t care. Watches are no assets. If you are interested in investing money I’d always invest in the capital market. You will get a lot more profit from that.

I love Omega, and I love the Seamaster enough to have bought two of the current models. But I just have trouble seeing the price of the Bond edition compared to the the regular models. It’s nice, but not enough for me to pay the extra.
