One Watch Under $1,000

Wanted to get some opinions on this. I’m looking to get something in the next few months for under $1,000. This will likely be my last watch purchase for a few years. I currently have a Seiko 5 “dresskx” (blue) and a citizen promaster diver (titanium, black dial) so this would either be a complication (gmt or chrono) or something more classic/formal. Looking for recommendations. Thanks!

I would recommend the Tissot PRX. You get a lot for the price and it looks amazing.

Too many options!

I'd go chrono over gmt, with a grey, white or fun-coloured dial.

I'm a fan of the Citizen eco drive world chronos with Atomic time. Some of them are sporty/dressy and they are worry-free for timekeeping, batteries, etc. They'll have a chrono and easy-to-set alternate time zones.

If you want to go mechanical, there are some inexpensive options with the Seagull ST1901 chrono movement and an elaborate case back (Google Sugess or Red Star, for example), and there are some entry-level Swiss watches from Hamilton, Mido and others.

Good call. The prx seems great. Even the quartz version seems like a great value.

Thanks for the recommend. I like the still of the seagull chrono. Hamilton has some things at a higher pricepoint Id love to get (but will need to save up for).

Given that this is your last purchase for a while, take your time, try a bunch on, wait for something that really speaks to you.

If the process isn't enjoyable, it might affect your enjoyment of the timepiece.

I own a Tissot Le Locle that was given to me as a work anniversary gift. It's the white dial version, 2-tone case/bracelet with the "diamond" indices. Though I am far from a "dress" watch person, I love the Tissot ; very classy and my only Swiss piece 😀
