High end swiss divers

My first luxury diver is this BP Bathyscaphe 43mm.

Many divers has come and gone. I’m hoping this will be the one to stay (at least for a while).

First impressions is that it’s very dynamic with the light and the finish is fantastic, as you would expect at the price. The only thing I’ve noticed so far is the bezel. It has a bit to much back play, but the watch is 7 years old, so maybe this is normal. The noise it makes on the other hand is fantastic.

Finally, WTF 23mm lug spacing BP?

I believe it's one of those rare divers with an open caseback isn't it? Since it's an amazing movement it'd be nice to see it.

I always sort of thought Blancpain was overpriced for it's basic appearance, but I think given it's provenance it's appropriate. You know it's been handmade in Switzerland, with Swiss parts. And since I like GS divers and they are same price ballpark as this model (I think), no need to convince me of need for a lux diver 😂.

Brutal on the 23mm though, ug 😠! I thought 21mm and 19mm were bad, but this is way worse and way harder to accommodate.

This one has 23mm lugs. I have 5 custom straps for it!!! It can be done!

OH DAM!

Well, if you have a schwak of straps for it, then alternatives do exist...phew😅 . I don't think I've seen the 23mm size listed on the cheap ass strap sites I peruse, so had concluded it didn't exist. I prefer a wider band on all my watches, so if 23mm options are available then I'm good with it after all. 😉

Yeah, man, all my straps are Omega-style deployant straps!

#1 - Navy blue alligator leather 23/20

#2 - Navy blue Delugs shell cordovan 23/20

#3 - Green Delugs buttero 23/20

Image

#4 - Black Delugs crazy horse 23/20

Image

#5 - Grey waxed canvas 23/18

The blue straps give the whole thing a "Batgirl" vibe! The green matches the lume and is awesome. The black strap is classic black on black. And, finally, the waxed canvas gives it all like a super rustic / rough feel.

It's a strap monster!

This watch is terrific. I’m wearing it today. I’m just waiting for the WRUW thread to swing over to today’s date before I post it.

Luckily I didn’t pay more than half retail for this one.

GS is nice but is just way way too large.

RE: 23mm lug width

What’s the thinking here. Is it a proportion thing where the maker just couldn’t stomach 22mm of 24mm? I know 1mm is more noticeable in watches than most people think, but this seems ridiculous. It’s some nonsense a company like Apple would cook up so you have to buy all your straps from them. Come on watch manufacturers, you’re better than Apple aren’t you?

Yes, it could easily have been 22 and the proportions would not change much.

Beautiful watch, and a bargain at secondary prices. Looks great on you OP!

Mine says hello...and I'd never have it on anything other than the 23mm sailcloth it came with. 😉

None, no divers seem to stick in the collection, but hope this will.

Great photos! I have the original sailcloth but the buckle is broken. Hope it can be fixed.

I was just curious about which ones you have tried? I am in a similar situation where every nice diver I've tried has a short life, even for me where everything tends to go sooner or later.

Mostly Seiko, one with a 6R movement and an SKX. Now I have a Citizen, which I like, and would never sell as it doesn’t have much value.

The movement is the star of the show on this one. The 23mm lug is a PITA but with all factors considered is worth dealing with. I own the Fifty Fathoms and I just popped for the extra money and got optional 23mm straps and bracelet directly from Blancpain. The only optional strap I am missing is the Blancpain NATO.

Great watch at a great price well jealous
