TAG Heuer misalignment update.
Hi folks. I promised to make a folllowup post on the misalignment issue on my TAG Heuer Carrera when it comes back.
So yesterday I finally got the text from the AD that the watch had arrived. Having the week off from work I was able to go and pick it up immediately. Glad to have it back, as it was away for several months.
Not the greatest experience I have to say though, as it took a really long time, almost 4 months I think. And the peculiar thing is I didn't hear anything for a couple of months at a time, and when I contacted the AD for info, it somehow always nudged forward quickly almost instantly.🤷♂ As if the watch was sitting somewhere waiting, and when I asked about it, it was only then taken care of.
I was told the watch was sent back to the factory because TAG wanted to have a look at it themselves, after seeing pictures of the misalignment. It ended up going twice for some reason. Don't know why exactly, just that it wasn't ok when it came back the first time. And secondly, I suspect it never went to the factory in Switzerland at all, as it says Pforzheim Customer Service Center on the card I got from them. And that's in Germany, so who knows..🤷♂
In conclusion,
The watch is back, it looks good, the movement was inspected and the water resistance checked. From what I was told, the DIAL was centered a tiny bit, not the chapterring, so I guess we'll have to go with that. AND, I got to keep the little TAG travelcase the watch had travelled in, so that was a nice little bonus.😊

Glad your watch is back, think it’s pot luck on how long it takes. One of my Tags went off at the beginning of lockdown and came back 14 months later, only to have to be sent back again with a small issue, which only took a few weeks to return. Both times it went to Switzerland. 🤔

Oh, that must have taken some seroius patience to wait that long.😬In your case the lockdown probably played a big part in too.
I'm hoping my will continue to run smoothly, as there wasn't anything mechanically wrong with it. Just the dial a bit off.

Thanks. Yeah, every now and then I got worried that it has been misplaced somewhere, and no one knows where it's at.😬 So it's a big releaf to have it back, for sure.😄

That watch is pretty pretty pretty. I used to have a TAG Heuer 1000 in the early 1990s. I bought it for $395 out of a Sharper Image catalog. The dial was bluer than blue. It was the most beautiful watch - maybe the most beautiful thing I ever owned. I sold it to buy a power amp.
