Red & Rectangular
About 2 months after I placed the pre-order on a Second Hour Memoir with the Red Dial, it finally arrived today. For some reason, I've felt strongly that if I had a square/rectangular watch, it would have to be one with a red dial. Something about that combination seems really right and appealing to me. I think it looks pretty good and fits my 6.9" wrist well. the strap it comes on is not bad. But, it makes the overall look of the watch very red, obviously. It can work. But, I think this watch could have been better paired with a more contrasting strap option to let the dial and it's color take center stage which would be more complimentary and interesting. As such, and anticipating needing better strap options, I already have at least one aftermarket strap on order. I hope to share it as soon as it arrives. I believe the aftermarket strap options I have in mind will really make this watch sing and look even better. Stay tuned. If I had the money, I really wish to get a JLC Reverso 1931 Tribute Small Seconds with a burgundy dial. But, that's quite a bit more expensive averaging around high $8k to $11k, from my last browsing for one on the second hand market. So, this pretty affordable Second Hour Memoir certainly fulfills the spot with a very similar design aesthetics.. sans the flippy case action.

I'm betting another strap will help the overall look. As mentioned, the matching red strap works and is of good quality. But, it's maybe too much matchy red.. I can do that look, but, not one I would do as often. I've got something on order and another 2 in mind I plan to order, as well. Since 20mm l2l, I have several potential strap options I already own that will be worth trying. I'll be sure to share what a strap combo difference can make in upcoming posts with this watch.

Who said I'm not?! 😂 But, seriously, that new Carrier is great... Maybe some day.. I would say it makes receiving this watch that more enjoyable being Carrier did a very similar dial color for that new backwards movement release.. not, the same thing at all.. but,makes me feel happy that 2 new square(ish) watches looking great and appreciated.
