Saw this in a watch Facebook group wanted to share this here:
Bay Area Jeweler Made Man Spend $220k so he could buy $109k watch he never got
All this talk about San Francisco becoming a hell hole and people are still going to Union Square to drop tons of money on watches.
Writer choked, he had an opportunity to use this sentence:
One does not simply walk into an AD and buy a Patek 5980/1R-001.
What a missed opportunity.

Quoting me does not a meme make.
Love the avatar BTW
There’s pp all over SF, and I’m not talking about Patek. I was born in SF and it has literally gone to the shits.
Sadly, the article is behind a pay wall. I would like to read more about that.

Tl:dr version
Some guy wants a particular Patek, goes to AD in San Francisco.
AD says, we need purchase history, so guy buys other Pateks and jewelry. All the while the AD says it counts towards the actual Patek the guy wanted.
Plot twist, AD knew they were losing their Patek dealership and strung this guy along to the tune of $200+k.

There was human waste all over SF long before it went downhill.

And the guy could have bought a brand new Patek 5980/1R from Chrono24 for what he spent building up the purchase history plus what I assume he's spending on lawyer fees.
This one's a steal at $298,000 US. https://www.chrono24.co.nz/patekphilippe/new--nautilus-5980-chronograph-18k-rg-brown-diawatch-bp-5980r-001--id27271132.htm

Human poop. Literal human waste.
Stop the shenanigans, dealers! Just have the cajones to tell people that you don't like the cut of their jib but a bribe may change your mind.
