Grandads other watch - no poll needed for this one

Thanks to everyone voting on what to do with my Grandad’s 50s/60s Accurist https://www.watchcrunch.com/Justingalore/posts/grandads-watch-how-much-to-restore-27430

This is his other watch - a lovely 1920s JW Benson Trench watch.

No poll needed for this one - as the dial is an absolute stunner; the strap is awful; and the movement is bunged up with rust.

So the plan is - service and derusting; and pop it on a bund style strap (should look good, be robust, and keep the silver caseback off the skin.)

Nice! My grandfather’s Hamilton pocket watch from 1925 was given to my son, who is named after him. It may not be worth much, but it holds a lot of meaning.

·

Whoa - amazing shape and texture to that dial!

·

Agree - service it, replace the strap, and possibly the glass (looks like there's a crack in it) and don't touch anything else!

·

That looks like a pocket watch conversion. You should be able to tell by how well the lugs are welded to the case.

A bund is probably the best option for this one.

Yes both this and my other benson are likely little converted fob watches..

And finally - a NOS vintage woven strap (as the soldered on lugs were too tiny for the lugs)
