Overshot and retract?

Hi guys, when you set the time, do you overshoot by about 5 minutes and then retract to the right time?

Nope, I hack the seconds at 60, and then set the time to the nearest minute. Ie. If it's 13:23:20 I set my hacked watch to 13:24 and wait until the time catches up.

Well... these days I hack at 60, then set the watch to the nearest minute, and start it however early it is... a few seconds here or there isn't that important.

Not consciously, no

I do that, move the minute hand past the desired time and then dial it back to set. I thought it was supposed to be good practice (can’t remember where I saw that though)

I've read that that going clockwise past and counter-clockwise back to time supposedly gets rid of "gear slack"...

No, but there are times when I've been affected by the mysterious " 5 minutes off" gremlin, only noticed  long after I set the watch.

Kind of like the "my quartz watch id dead" gremlin where you swear the hand isn't ticking-and then it ticks.
