MRW-200h Replacement (aka It’s Too Easy)

I put my first MRW-200h through the wringer. I hydro-modded it. Then “un”-hydro-modded it after it drained the battery. Messed around with chapter rings and decals on the dial as well. After replacing the battery, I took the movement and put it on a Duro dial that I modded (using the Duro crown) and now it resides inside a Duro case.

Well… that left me without a MRW with a blue dial (to go along with my white one).

So I picked up another one from Amazon. Why? Because it’s just too darn easy to replace it for about $20. 😀

After it arrived, I put it on a metal bracelet from AE.

After seeing the watch pictured below reviewed on YT, I also ordered this one which offers a different dial in a very cool colorway.

Why did I order another MRW-200h?

Well… you already know why. 😉

What were your thoughts on the hydro mod?

I really enjoyed doing the mod and the effect is awesome.

You can see the increased visibility at more extreme angles..

See the “raised” effect of the dial with the silicone oil. The dial appears to be sitting right under the crystal.

Image

And the glare from the sun hitting the water will never block out the dial when submerged in water. Refracted light and all that.

If you decide to do it, just make sure you put the chapter ring (rehaut) back in, correctly. 🤪

Right way…

Wrong way… 🤣

After hydro-modding the MRW-200 and a Duro, I removed the oil from both as they would occasionally develop an air bubble (not the look I prefer) so after adding more oil on several occasions (which can be time-consuming), I gave up on the hydro-mod. I do think it also shortened the battery life on the MRW-200h.

But it is a fun process and a very cool effect, indeed. Give it a try (if you haven’t already). 👍

Wow thank you for that info!! I don’t think I have any time only quartz, except maybe my timex camper. Would be interesting to try.

This arrived yesterday.

I like the dial design on this MRW-200h model.

For a watch that costs around $20, you can’t beat it. Actually, you can (and should) beat these watches 😀).

I paid about $18 for this new MRW-200h from Temu and since the transaction went smoothly and I was pleased with the watch (and it arrived with all the packaging and tags), I ordered this one…
