Seiko 6105 willard

How does everyone feel about a original vintage serviced willard. Is it worth the money. Does any crunchers on here own one. Is it still capable of being water resistant. Any thoughts

Could still be water resistant if the service included case back and crown seals. Can’t say if it’s worth a price as I don’t see the asking on your screenshot. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I would not trust water resistance 100% on any vintage watch. The cases can become pitted where the gaskets sit. Unless all the gaskets are changed and has had a pressure test, I would not get it wet. If it had all that and passed the test, then ok to get wet but I would still not swim with it.

It's a really difficult question to answer without knowing specifics.

In regards to WR - yes, possible but unlikely unless WR was addressed during service, in which case the watch would've / should've been pressure tested as part of the process.

There's always questions about originality. Is the crown original? The bezel insert? The crystal, the dial, the hands … Do the serials all match up? At the very least definitive answers to such questions are needed to establish worth.

Every now and then you'll stumble across a 'someone doesn't know what they've got' listing but they sell really quickly due to the popularity of the watch and amount of knowledgeable Seiko fans out there but most of the really solid examples are with reputable dealers - and have a price tag that reflects that.

WR - I wouldn’t chance it.

Thanks for the good advice. Hard to believe what parts are original and what parts aren't. The price tags are mostly in that $1500-$2500 range. Probably not worth the risk.

No worries.
