The more I look at Delma and read about them the more impressed I am by them.

·

That's handsome. But not that handsome.

·

Never heard of this brand. Looks good 👍🏾

·

I think the 10K could be better invested.

For a brand that has been around for 100 years they are rather obscure.

·

Looks interesting, has anyone heard where the movement is coming from?

Is it an horage movement? They make tourbillons around the same price and are a movement supplier.

Delma is normally know for their lack in creativity with making Rolex look-alikes.

10K for a swiss made Tourbillon is unfortunately considered reasonable keep in mind that is the pre-order/online price. The RRP $13,900.

The press release says it was custom developed and that is Delma's proprietary Caliber DT100.01 with a 105 Hour power reserve.

From the webpage:

"The tourbillon sits at the heart of DELMA’s proprietary 100% Swiss Caliber DT100.01, a hand-wound movement with a prodigious power reserve of 105 hours."

I have a Delma Shell Star. I only know about them, because a jeweler near me has them. They are badly represented even here in Switzerlandwith only a dozen or so retailers.

·

The watch looks nice, if only it would have been a open heart and not a tourbillon. Also, im susrprised that they made an movement on theyr own.

As a lightly horologically educated novice, I'm sure there are tons of names that I've never heard of 😂

I agree. But what makes Tourbillons always special was not the tourbillon itself. It was always related to a speciall brand and model like Breguet.

Or it was a proof of a brand to be able to manufacture it by itself, as for example Frederique Constant did.

Of course compared to Breguet the price has one 0 less on it's figures, but Delma has the problem that they always disappeared on the market so that less people even now it's existing.

To offer a Tourbillon which is "cheaper" than the one of Frederique Constant is a way to get attention back again. That's ok.

But in general I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy a Tourbillion as long is itsn't from Breguet or similar brand. The first reason: Tourbillon is unneccessary. The second if you want to sell it again, no one would be ready to pay you money for it. Not for 10 K, not for 1K.

Those who have 10K will rather spend it for a Rolex.

Those who just have 1 K have not more monex to spend for a service on a Tourbillon watch.

So you will end up with burning your hard earned money.

Please don't get me wrong.

If you always wanted to have aTourbillon and enjoy to watch it turning and if you don't care that you lost the money that moment you hold it in your hands, it's all fine. But in that case I would recommend you rather the chinese Sugess Tourbillon for only a few hundret bucks.

Or you can easy find a Tag Heuer or FC Tourbillon or even sometime Hublot Tourbillons for that price as used or on the grey market.

It's not about the brand, it's about that 10K wouldn't be lost instantly.

For a brand that has been around for 100 years they are rather obscure.

Delma is a frequent visitor on certain European shopping channels with watches that sport either uninspired designs or borderline homages. That being said, they use standard movements, and their quality reputation is pretty good. (Why you'd buy an expensive watch from that brand ... I have no idea.)

Thank you for the information! I just knew this is a Swiss made tourbillon.

Yes, and a Swiss tourbillion it is. But I agree with @Uhrologe when he states:

I would suspect that this watch was purposely created to elevate the brand's image, because on the other end of the spectrum you can order Delma watches along with wrinkle cream and canned ham.

It's from my perspective one of the brands where painful marketing and design decisions overshadow watches that are well made.

I agree it a flex to raise their profile. You have to start somewhere. I also know there are those who would like a Swiss Tourbillon but the prices on general scare hem off and this is closer to being affordable.

During the pandemic the interest in watches soared, and I know that n Germany, Switzerland and GB the shopping channels jumped on it, trying to capture their piece of the pie.

One common way to suggest value was to compare specs and make it seem like their watch was as good as a luxury brand. This often included Chinese movements with tourbillions, with the presenter yelling "TOUR-BILLON" into the camera, suggesting the watch was in the same league as a Breguet. But it didn't raise the value of the watch, it largely made it unserviceable.

Now Delma was part of this sales process. Their angle was a Swiss Made watch with a standard movement, which in most cases were homages, but in different color schemes. Their watches weren't bad, but the value questionable, especially due to the steep discount scheme starting with inflated prices.

To me a tourbillion in a Delma watch is like a jet engine mounted to a Honda Civic. It makes no sense, has no real purpose, and is probably a waste of money.
