Testing the Lume on my Collection of Watches

This past Sunday I got bored. The sun was shining pretty good through the blinds and I placed all my watches in a makeshift "testing rig," i.e. my clothes hamper. I lined them all up to get a nice, flat line of sunlight on the face of each watch.

Pictured left to right are: Addiesdive AD1970 6105 homage; Tandorio 62 MAS homage; Citizen Promaster BN0150-28E; Heimdallr Titanium SKX007 homage; Steeldive SD1996 SKX homage; Steeldive SD1953 Submariner homage; Pagani Design PD1701 Speedmaster homage; and lastly, Pagani Design PD1671 BB58 homage

Once they had sat "charging" for about 5-10 minutes, I placed them in the walk-in closet, where it's pretty much the darkest place in the house. Timing everything was the chronograph of my trusty Casio F105.

I took pictures at certain intervals of the test--once of them in the sun, once when placed in the closet with door open, once with the door closed in darkness, one after 15 minutes in and the last was a little less than 30 mins.

Lume always looks great after the initial charge, but only six out of eight watches were legible after the time was up. Guess which two fared the worst? I'll give you a hint: its the only homage watch brand that shares its name with a maker of supercars.

Hey , How do you like the Heimdallr? I've seen ok reviews about their SKX and really good reviews about their seamaster homage.

The titanium is nice, but it lacks any sort of scratch resistant coating. It picks up knicks very easily. The stainless SKX007 homage version is nice and offers the jubilee bracelet, but the titanium only has an oyster style.

I got mine from Amazon with a $10 discount offer, which is not available any longer. I think the watchdives.com site has a $10 dicount coupon offer that brings it down from $199 to $189. You can get them on AliExpress for $166 if you're comfortable going that route.

The thing that tipped the scale in favor of the Ti version is the dial--it offers a lot of interesting light-playing angles and effects, and the hands appear to be styled after a different Seiko watch, which I think is the Prospex Samurai.

If you are someone who is relatively careful with your watches, I would go for the titanium version. It has enough subtle differences than a pure SKX homage that it almost comes off as an original Heimdallr design.

Thats awesome, Thanks for the specialized review.

With Invicta the hands are the 1st things I upgrade in it. Seiko and Rolex make the best lume.

Citizen is right up there with them as well.
