The right tools for the job!!

Just a short PSA!! The Right tools makes a build or Mod makes the hobby more fun and less headaches!! Example one…

I tried removing a cyclops on a sapphire glass by heating and at first my thought ok any heat would do right ok..ok so I used this..

Image

A regular lighter should do right??!!… NO!

Result: a cracked cyclops not removed…

Then did more research … Butane Torch…

Results:

The right tools makes this hobby so much fun!! Plus now have a Torch sooo much better next!! Crème Brûlée!!!!

Things I’d never expect to find in a watchmakers toolbox:

A blowtorch😂

·

Amaze-balls

·

I tell you something your really into this home shopping ichi😂

I’ve seen people remove magnifiers with small butane torches but they leave the watch assembled!

Must damage the movement in the long run…

Did the crystal take much cleaning to get the glue off?

I just wiped it with a wet cloth and came off nicely …

Now time to put this movement back together… 😖🤯

Couldn’t say it better my self brother. Sometimes you can cheep out and get away with it but I’m finding that less to be true with this hobby. You almost always have to get the proper tools eventually anyway.

Awesome post! 🤩

Yeah I've kind of been a ghost. The past 2 months were just a whirlwind of chaos. My daughters wedding and redoing our kitchen nearly made my head explode! The dust has finally settled and I can start to take a deep breath and enjoy watches.

You're killing it on these watches you're making.... Might need to commission a whitesalmon edition😀

Well of course it would need to have some kind of Watermelon dial and possibly fishbone hands. 39mm-40mm. I'm curious what dials are out there, this would be dangerous ground for me.I can see part of my shop being over taken by watch parts.

The bezel on the watch above is just killer!

·

was it a blank? Sorry I mean was this a build or mod? Also I'm still hunting for a 1977 June Seiko for you. I've run across a couple. But they just weren't Bunz worthy!
