NWA: pretty impressed with the Farer World Timer Roché II!

Today saw the arrival of the first world timer in my collection: the Farer World Timer Roché II - basically the same watch as the original 2019 Roché, but now powerd by a Sellita 330-1 instead of the ETA 2893-1. The 330-1 has been modified by Sellito, adding a 24-hour disc.

So what’s in the package? A zip case, containing the warranty card, a short and clear instruction manual, a small cloth and the watch of course:

The case serves its purpose, nothing special. Quickly to the watch!

There’s a lot to discover on the dial: an outer ring containing major world cities across the timezones, numerals 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 (applied solid blocks of Grade X1 Super-LumiNova), a date window (round, which I think is nice), the Farer name of course, small indices plus a 24hr disc around a world map in the center.  Lumed alpha hands and a seconds hand with the Farer ‘A’ at the tip. The dial itself is textured gloss midnight blue. All very well laid out and executed.

The case and crown are finished to a high standard as well:

I like the combination of the brushed and polished steel and the signed bronze inlay on the crown. The measurement are 39mm diameter, 11mm depth and 45mm lug-to-lug.

To the movement - as said, a modified Sellita SW330-1 Elaboré, with a blue rotor, featuring the words ‘world timer’. A free engraving is offered by Farer - in my case: ‘Keep traveling!’

The back of the watch has a significantly better finish than the other British micro brand using the Sellita SW-330 movement, in this case the CW C63 GMT:

On to the strap: a tan “St. Venere” leather strap. Out of the box, it is very stiff. I have been folding it for a bit now, and it has become somewhat more supple, but in my mind Farer could have invested a bit more in a thinner, more supple, luxurious strap. Because of its stiffness, i had a quick look around for possible alternative straps: in this case, the CW suede one and a PD rubber strap:

Although I think the black rubber strap actually looks rather fine, I am going with the Farer original for the moment - i think it does make for rather a classy combination:

And the lume! Farer really did a good job here - see pic below:

The Farer World Timer is really easy to set - the second crown rotates the city ring; the date, 24hr time and local time are set with the primary crown. Which is not screw down btw, the watch is rated at 100m WR.

Final thoughts (/first impression): Farer did a really good job here. A proper world timer, city ring, 24hr second time zone (and a map :-)), all really well executed at a very competitive price point. Case and case back are also finished very nicely indeed. The strap could have been better, but overall, I am pretty impressed! And very happy with this new arrival 😍

Hey just received my Farer Roche Worldtimer as well. Beautiful timepiece at a great value…awesome lume! My gripe is the countries are a little bit small and hard to read, but I think once I visit my Optometrist that won’t be an issue!

Congrats!!

The print of the cities is indeed quite small - I do need my reading glasses to make them out…but have those on during work days anyway, so most of the time the small print is not a problem :)
