I personally don’t like the overdone world of Rolex homages, but I recently found Seestern and in many ways they have better features/specs than the Doxa’s they homage. I enjoy homage watches for what they are: watches that look like other watches. Outside of that, originality is generally best practice and you don’t always have to spend a fortune to get an original design (Seiko 5 line and Vostok as examples).
Most of mine are Homages - but made by the original manufacturer's - Seiko 62Mas reissue, 1968 reissue,Willard, Omega Seamaster 300 (2014 tribute to the original)
Other than that I see homages as little difference to a fake watch.
To each their own tho, whatever floats your boat 😉👍🏻
I watched your video on it before pulling the trigger. It helped give me the confidence to do it, especially after seeing Aviv (MyAffordableWatchCollection)'s video where he had an issue with the ST19.

Absolutely. Different strokes for different fokes.

I'm glad it was helpful.
I don't think I've seen Aviv's video on that. But Aviv is a good guy and I talk to him now and then.
I'm not particularly bothered by homages, but I'd like an element of originality. I'm usually not too hung up about popular expensive watches, so their clones fail to appeal to me as lookalikes, but they may appeal to me as good-looking spec-monsters.
That being said, quite a few Chinese brands whose affordability I enjoy can get a design really wrong when left entirely to their own devices. I enjoy the homage type that is not a clone but shows a connection to the homaged. For example, I really like Pagani's Explorer homage. It has the Explorer's 369 layout, but is distinctive - its indices add bling and make the dial a bit more Asian - it feels less bland than the original.
There is one type of watch where being a clomage is absolutely fine, and these are military spec watches. Many watches of different brands for those looked almost exactly the same to begin with, because there was a tight brief. Even when the homagers clone an IWC or Hamilton of that ilk that does not bother me - there was so little variation up front. Adding a 3-day-date window to a bog standard flieger does not suddenly acquire originality.

I answered that it depends. I'm pretty much neutral on the matter.
A watch being a homage does not affect my liking of it, so if I like it, I like it, and if I don't, I don't.

That's a good way to be.
if its done ight then no problem
I voted C. For me it comes down to design of the watch, I'm not into Rolex designs, so most "homage" copies have no appeal to me based on that.
I get why brands make homages, I just prefer brands to do their own thing more than focus on other brands products (and mimic them).
I voted C. Homages have a time and place. For one example of that time and place, see my thread here:

Yeah I much prefer the more unusual homages too.

That's fair enough. I do like that too. That's why I love microbrands as well. I've reviewed some pretty unique ones too.

Yeah those Seesterns are really good.

I find that is the case with Steeldives homages of some Seiko's too.

Thanks. I'm glad you're enjoying it.
As for me, I prefer an homage to not so iconic pieces. Definitely not in favour of the homage of models like daytona, sub, GMT master, nautilus etc...

Same here. It's just more interesting isn't it? I try to mix things up a bit and do ones that are different.
