“Moment of Silence” for Maui

Fellow Crunchers,

Happy Aloha Friday to you all!

Let me start by saying that I hope this post doesn’t stray too far from the purpose and spirit of this community. I know that many (myself included) come to WatchCrunch for reprieves from reality, rather than reminders of it.

With that said, I wanted to take a “moment of silence” to recognize the significance of what is currently playing out in West Maui, specifically in the historic town of Lahaina. With many structures destroyed, historical sites damaged, lives lost, and people still missing, this is a massive tragedy on many levels.

In thinking about ways to support those impacted, I felt compelled to post something to WatchCrunch, which in my experience has been full of compassionate, enthusiastic, and supportive fellow watch nerds. It is a true “stay stoked” community that I’m grateful to be a small part of.

If you’d like to show your support in a small way, I’d love to see your “moment of silence” pic with a bare wrist in honor of the people and communities affected by the Maui wildfires. If you’d like to help in other ways, please consider supporting the Hawai’i Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund, Maui United Way, World Central Kitchen, or another organization working directly with the people of Maui.

Thank you for your time and aloha. Stay Crunchy!

I just got this text from a good friend on Maui. We can't talk but I have gotten a few text. This was from a couple of hours ago. In true Aloha style he sends me a HAPPY ALOHA FRIDAY text. I know Mick. He makes a living with his hands. He's helping out however and whoever he can.

Saw your other post- thanks for sharing those great pics! Brought back a lot of memories from my vacation there with my wife last year, and from many childhood trips as an Oahu kid. Those roosters walking around everywhere made me smile, and the banyan tree was something to behold. Sadly I don’t have much hope for the roosters, not to mention the countless homes and businesses, but it looks like the banyan tree may survive!

I also love the aloha shirt- rock it with pride my friend! The one I’m wearing in the picture is from Reyn Spooner. The print is called “Lahaina Sailor”, which comes in many colors and is one of their oldest and most popular prints.

Aloha and take care!

Aloha my friend. Your Reyn Spooner is awesome. I have one that’s a collab with Uniqlo that I picked up last year at Ala Moana. I’ll be instituting Floral Friday with my team for the foreseeable future.

Hey everyone. I too am heartbroken as to what's happening in Maui right now and want to help.

I'm running a charitable auction for my DRZ04 to benefit the Maui Strong Fund and the Maui United Way Disaster relief efforts. I'm donating all the proceeds and double matching them.
