Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional Co-Axial Master Chronometer 42mm “Sapphire Sandwich”
This is my first review for Watchcrunch, I hope you enjoy.
Every year I buy and flip a few inexpensive watches to scratch the itch, and then every-so-often I have to go big.
It had been a couple of years since I bought a significant watch on my grail list when I decided to go for it this summer (2022).
To alleviate any feelings of guilt I sold my Longines “Big Eye” before visiting Watches of Switzerland in Canary Wharf, London. I hadn’t made an appointment but was greeted by the staff who were all very welcoming. I looked at both the sapphire and Hesalite versions. Both gorgeous but I chose the sapphire because I wanted to wear the watch and didn’t want to worry about scratching the crystal.
I’ve had this watch for just on four months and honestly, every time I put it on, it stays there for more and more days before I switch to another watch.
The design is just perfect - I’ve always liked chronographs but this watch has a wonderful balance between the case size, bezel, sub-dials and indeces. It oozes class without making a show.
I’d read that these watches were a bit of a fiddle to wind. This new model has an easier crown to wind, however I bought a Bergeon winding tool which does help get a good wind started when starting the watch up.
The bracelet is very comfortable and was sized at Watches of Switzerland and the display back is a bonus.
Overall this is a keeper and it will be handed on to my son in years to come.

Excellent and classic watch. Thanks for sharing.
Winner!
Winner and still champion, though if I have my druthers I'd swap the hesalite with a sapphire crystal and keep that awesome NASA-approved plate.
