Kicking the hornet's nest.

Ok! Here's my Pagani Design explorer homage in 39mm. I'd LOVE to have the Rolex, but I’ll likely never be able to afford it, along with other grail watches I’d want AND ones that I’m saving for. At first, I fell out of love with it for being an homage. Then I left it in water overnight and then froze it and thawed it with hot water. It was fine and I started to feel like I could wear it and bang it around no problem. Thoughts on homages?

Nice watch, i also got no problem with homage or clomage as long as it has a good built quality

No problems at all with homages. The Explorer is one of the most widely" homaged" watches out there. It doesn't seem to bother Rolex. They'd rather go after children's educational clocks that nobody would ever confuse with a Rolex.

Clomage is the best description!

When I first learned of homages, I had thought "how can they get away with it?" And then I realized "ain't nobody confusing one for the other when they're looking to buy a watch." Lol

I prefer ones with more differences than just the logo, unless it’s an out of production model being homaged, but in general I quite like homages.

True!  I like homage to mean ones like Christopher Wards. Earlier in the comments someone said "clomage" which I think is apt.

I did alright with these Pagani, both of which have enough differences from the watches they are homaging I think. Some customers want clomage, some just want a similar look for a price more in reach.

I'm a bit late to this discussion, but for what it's worth.. I can't afford a Rolex, I'm not even saving up for one and to be honest, if I had Rolex type money to spare, the last thing I'd be spending it on is a watch. But.. here is the problem. I love the look of the Explorer 1.

When I ordered my Pagani, I was anticipating disappointment. £70 for Rolex clone.. you get what you pay for. Right?

Okay, it's not a high end watch, but it's well put together, it's stainless steel, has a sapphire crystal and an Explorer style dial. Even the movement is proving to be pretty accurate. Apparently it's made by Seiko who also make the movement in my Turtle which cost 3 times more than the Pagani.

What's not to like? Well, the Lume is almost non-existent, blink and you'll miss it, and I really can't get to grips with the bracelet.

That said, I love wearing it, it's a solid and accurate watch and no one can say it doesn't look good. If anyone has a problem with me wearing a clone/homage/copy, call it what you like, they can take their opinion elsewhere. I'm wearing what I like and what I can afford.

P.s Gasanche.. did you really freeze your watch? 😮
