A Cosmo King for Titoni Tuesday. Three generations of the Schluep family have kept their watch business alive and independent for over 100 years. Sometimes that meant emulating other successful Swiss companies as with this Titoni bling master and it's obvious Rolex Day-Date design cues. The "do what it takes" approach helped the Schluep family not only survive the quartz crisis but to also avoid the consolidation that befell many of the survivors. In the late 1950's the family started incorporating their current trademark symbol of a Plum Blossom as seen on this dial, crown and caseback. This symbol signified values of endurance, vitality and resilience while the family embarked on the longest running (and current) of their three subsequent business names. First Felco, then Felca and finally Titoni. I find it really easy to root for a Swiss underdog that survived over a century without selling the family business to one of the market dominating watch groups. Give them a peek should the opportunity arise as they are one of the few affordable vintage options from a surviving Swiss maker.

Yet another brand I'm just now hearing of. That piece must have some interesting stories to tell. And am I seeing right that it indicates which Tuesday of the month it is? Interesting indeed.

In some places just as a 1 signifies January and 12 December they also use numbers to denote a specific day of the week with 1 referring to Monday and 7 meaning Sunday (ex. 1/1/1/24 would mean Monday, January 1st, 2024). Though this Titoni day wheel uses both systems on a single window there are some wheels that allow one to switch between the weekday number and weekday text just as some wheels allow one to switch between two languages like Kanji and English. For more info on Felca>Felco>Titoni here is a link to an article I wrote:

BTW there is a large collection of this company's watches on my WC gallery.

Very interesting piece. I haven't seen much #titoni watches, but they do have a cool look to them.

I found Titoni to be an affordable way to collect a diverse range of vintage Swiss watches from a maker that isn't dead or been revived by a new set of owners.

Something about the unbroken century+ of family management that really speaks to me. Happy hunting!
