California sucks, don't come. There is never anything to do for free except maybe walk around in the sun, listen to live music and look at cars with outdated technology.
1920s thru to the 1970s was the heyday of American Automobiles. Best cars in the world when innovation was king and Engineers not accountants ran these businesses. Engineers are making a comeback and some American automakers are back with the right people making the decisions . I watch a lot of Jay Leno :)
California is basically a small piece of Australia . Great weather probably better than here . Snow and beautiful beaches within driving distance !
I do Love Australia though. I traveled it from Kangaroo Island to Brisbane via Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney with helicopter trips into the interior.
I dove and choppered over the Great Barrier Reef as well as visited the Blue Mountains. My wife even had Happy Birthday sung to her during a performance in the Opera house.
We met a few rambunctious bogans though most of the Aussies were helpful and kind.

Just told my wife about your routine "don't come to California" stories with images of products being inexpensive. Always have to get Intel from those who know. Thanks Jack.

I would love to share "my" California with open minded people like you and Mrs. D.
Like most watches, California isn't perfect and it isn't for everybody but those that bash it the hardest are often coming from a place of darker motivations and warped agendas. Haters goona hate type attitudes.
Last night we had a sumptuous dinner with Hollywood types at a IYKYK restaurant where I wore a "killer" watch and ordered a Sicario.
