NWA - IWC Big Pilot - Any more enthusiasts?

Having the IWC Mark XVIII Petit Prince as 1 of my absolute favorite watches, with that fantastic blue dial combined with that great comfortable bracelet, I have always wondered how this watch could be even better......and better for me would mean only 2 things, a little larger (it is a Flieger after all that is supposed to be big) and without a date window to maintain symmetry.

So finally last week I pulled the trigger and bought the Big Pilot 43 in the same blue (online purchase, without trying it before).

And wow, it fits just perfectly on my "only" 7 inch wrist, and now after 4 days of wearing it, I can say that even though it is a chunky monkey, it wears super comfortably, I don't even notice it on my wrist weight wise.....it looks truly amazing and that big onion crown is a great bonus.

And now I start wondering....how would the Big Pilot 46 sit on my wrist? ´Cause for me, the Big Pilot 5002 has always been the coolest watch ever made, but I never even considered it ´cause I was always convinced that it is just too big, like unwearable.....but I also thought that of the Big Pilot 43.

So, are there any crunchers out there that are rocking the Big Pilot 46 with a more"modest" wrist"? If so, some pictures to share would be great.

It's one of my favorites. Just a bit too big for my collection, but I get crazy excited when I see any of the IWC Pilots in the wild

I’m a thin-wristed guy, so basically I’m sized out from IWC.

·

I tried a few couple weeks back at the AD and I wa pleasantly surprised they were comfortable … well I have 7.25-7.5 wrist though…but I went with Mark xx for my first IWC…

I have a 6.5” wrist and the Mark XX feels perfect - the lugs are a little more compact than the earlier editions. If you like the look it’s at least worth trying on at the AD.

👍 have you considered brushing the polished center links on the bracelet? I did that on my Mark XVIII bracelet, because I found it a bit too shiny.......all brushed looks amazing now, I prefer it........I am going to wait another week to give it a thought (cause there is no going back once it is brushed)....but for now I think I will brush them also on the big pilot

Personally I wouldn't do it because I would also have to polish the contours of the bezel. I think the alternating brushed polish on this model is pretty. But if you think that full polished brushed is better for this watch then do it.

100% with you. Always wanted a Big Pilot but felt it was too big for my 7 inch wrist. So when this came out it was straight to the top of my list. I still think this is the limit for me (for now) but there's a guy on Instagram I follow rocks a big one and has the same size wrist. Looks good on him. So maybe one day...

P.s. congratulations 🎉

I've tried on both. IMO the 43 is perfect size. I have 7 and 3/4 inch wrist. I've been looking at buying the green dial.

·

I love the Big Pilot so much, definitely on the list to try on someday.

·

IWC, currently, is one of my most favorite brands!

·

IWC mark looks basic on picture but I had a chance trying on mark18 with leather and I kept thinking about it .. now I understand

·

Love mine.

So, I brushed it today.....I wasn´t pleased with the polished center links......now I am very happy with it, of course it is a matter of taste but I feel with an all brushed bracelet it gains some of it´s utilitarian character back

Indeed it's very pretty in the end, as you say so well, it regains its original heritage. Now I'm thinking of doing the same 😆
