I'm starting to feel a slight movement in the watch world away from Rolex. I can only guess its that people are smart (for the most part), and they are figuring out that having to wait for a phone call to get a watch is not really that cool when you think about it. It's pretentious and a stupid way of manufacturing false scarcity. Getting to know an AD first and form a relationship with them, building a purchase history (yuck) is just a real turn off for me. The watches themselves tend to be too blingy, and it's a very fine line between classic and old fashioned that Rolex are treading, and maybe Rolex just doesn't resonate with people as much anymore. I honestly think that Tudor is the better and more attractive choice for the generations now starting their luxury watch journeys. Please don't think I hate Rolex, I really don't, I just can't get behind and line the pockets of a company that acts the way Rolex does towards its customers.
My favourite watch. I'd been searching for months to find something that ticks all the boxes for me (lightweight, tool watch oriented, black dial, no date, automatic, COSC certified, not pretentious) and so I pulled the trigger. Could not be happier, I smile every time I look at it and it's only lost 5 seconds, in a week!
