It's not easy to find the perfect Mickey Mouse watch! Most are too small, too old, too crappy, too expensive - even Lorus have gone up in price! But when this one popped up on Ebay, I immediately clicked the "BUY" button. Not only does it have a decent 36mm grown-up size, not only does it have the iconic Mickey with moving arms, not only was it recently overhauled - the seller even posted pix of the disassembled movement - - it's also an ELECTRIC!! How cool is that! For those who don't know: a Timex Electric movement is basically a standard mechanical movement with cogs and all, but instead of a spring, it has a battery that powers a little magnet coil to swing the balance. No electronics, just a simple contact switch.
Super happy with this one. Next thing to do is put the original plastic strap away safely, and put it on a bund strap.

I was so happy for you until I read those last few words.

A fuzzy green Oscar The Grouch strap, then? :D

Actually, a bund strap will help to preserve the base metal of this already vintage-watch case by acting as a buffer from the oils in his skin. Practically, it's not a terrible idea (although I can't say the same from a fashion perspective).
Really cool! Had never heard of that. Thanks, except now that I looked up this genre on eBay and found a backset Timex Electric, I have another watch to add to the wish list! No crown? Where is it? I’ll never tell…

That was the idea. The original is super flimsy and brittle with age too. Besides, what's wrong with a bund, fashion-wise? When that watch was built, they were all the rage.

Mickey on a Bund? I dunno...
The only Mickey I have currently needs a full-on restoration:
Given that it dates to 1939 though, I can't complain about the condition.
My wife and I wore our vintage Mickey's to Disneyland last week and had the most splendid of days.
What a sweet photo - and what wonderful bund straps! :)
