My first love

I was digging around in yet another drawer and found this under some t shirts. This is my first ever “nice watch” It’s a Citizen Blue Angels Skyhawk watch. I got it in 1995. I remember seeing it as I passed by a watch shop. I went back regularly to look at it. Saved up some money and eventually got it. I was so happy. It needs a battery now.

Take the old battery out for now so you have no risk of a batter leek 😬

·

Get on it, battery not gonna change itself... Needs to be revitalized and worn again. 😊🍻

I know. It’s just been so many years and watches after. And being 20 something at the time to 50 something now. lol

It’s the second battery from many many years ago. If the damage is done then it’s done. But I’ll heed your advice.

Wow! Yeah bring that baby back to life!

Thinking about it. But also I know I’m not going to wear it. To small by my standards now.

Too small?!

Too small?!

Yup. I’m a big dude don’t want to wear a watch sized for a 13 year old boy.

·

Oh ok I was just thinking I know that case size is over 44mm. I didn’t think about the bracelet sizing lol.

The newer Skyhawks may be but not this one. I don’t dislike it. It’s just that it’s been almost 3 decades and I’ve evolved to bigger watches. They didn’t have big watches in the mid 90’s like they do now.

·

Nice find! All I find in my T-shirt drawer is, well t-shirts! Get a new battery and put a strap on it! With a little effort you can find a bracelet that will fit it. 🍻

·

I recently found mine as well. It also needs a battery. That watch somehow just fits great, I love it.

·

Nice! It was my teenage grail as well! Ended up getting the PMV65 instead, still wear it to this day!

Not sure if you’re joking or not so.. here’s a pic 🤣

Not joking at all my man. I saw that one some years later but I wasn’t a watch guy then.

·

I have the same watch. It was my first “quality” watch as well. Unfortunately the mode button has broken and won’t advance the mode selection dial; and when the watch repair shop changed the battery, the lcd displayed errors and the UTC subdial just kept spinning round and round. They think the movement needs to be replaced ☹️

Oh wow look at that. The lost sibling. When did you get yours?

·

I got mine as a graduation gift in 1999, before entering the work world. It was my one and only watch for about 20 years.

I believe, I will take a pic of it when I get a chance.

·

I absolutely love this! You should get a new battery put in and give it a whirl.

I bet a ton of amazing memories will come flooding back!

I was thinking that also. The 90’s.

My dad had one and he passed it on to me as he also prefers bigger size watches now. I find mine perfect for my wrists, although it is missing the OEM bracelet. I was born in the late 90s for context.
