How do you wear it?

After 5 years of ownership and virtually no wrist time I finally got this beauty sized. It was to big and loose. It fell below the ulna bone. AKA wrist bone. Cost $20 to take a link out. Can’t believe I delayed this for so long. It only took 30 minutes there and back home. Went back and forth with one or two links removed. Settled on just one removed. During summer months ones wrist tends to swell due to warmer temperatures. How do you wear your watches loose fit or tight ?

Definitely tighter than looser. Ideal fit for me is being able to slide only my pinky between the clasp/buckle and my wrist. If I can fit more than my pinky, it’s too loose. I’d much rather have it too tight than too loose. A watch flopping around on my wrist is the absolute worst and I’d rather not even wear that watch.

This is an unfortunate reality of any metal link bracelet without generous amounts of micro adjust.

I err on the side of too loose. During summer months or after a brisk walk, a watch that’s too tight will feel like a handcuff.

I always prefer a loose fit. I don't think it's the recommended sizing, but I like it. BTW you can a purchase a very simple braclet pin vise (less than 20 bucks) and go back and forth on your sizing till your hearts content.

Also wanted to say, Nice looking watch! Enjoy

You’re right about that? I went looser rather than tighter.

I should also add, on hot days sweat will make the back of the case stick to the top of my wrist. This prevents the watch from falling down past my wrist bone to my hand when I lower my arm.

In the morning I’ll dab some water on top of my wrist to prevent the watch from sliding.

I have so many watches it wasn’t a concern. But it’s such a nice watch I got off my butt and finally got it fixed. I think I was motivated by the Crunchers

·

On the tighter side but I recently discovered the joys of a toolless on-the-fly microadjustment clasp. It’s been a game changer.

$20 to remove a link? Egad, that's highway robbery!

*looks at my friendly watchshop girls who charges $1.10 per resizing and resolves to give them more business after this*

Anyway, I used to prefer tighter but with gout starting to creep up to my wrist and fingers I learned to love loose fittings.

·

I like my watches on the snug side of things. my wife is the complete opposite: she wears a Baby-G and it slips up and down her wrist all day long. Drives me mad 😂

I prefer non bracelet style watches. But sometimes you have no choice.

Well I have a very good job and $20 is like $1.10 for me. Small businesses need to earn money to stay in business. I support them. Now $750 to get my Tag Heuer fixed which was quoted Naaah. I’ll wait til another day. Cheers mate.

Cool. The important thing is your Alpina is now sized just as you like it. 🍻 to that.

You know it!

During summer I tried to wear the canvas strap, the metal bracelet became a bit tight vs winter time .. my bracelet I hv my own tools to adjust it 😃

·

For that reason I prefer leather or rubber straps, easier to adjust, because of changing sizes of your wrist. I go for the lose side.

Yup.

·

My Tudor has no microadjust and no half-links. What do I do? I wear it on the loose side and also I did put some moleskin pad on the inside of the clasp.

·

I always worn my watch tight so that even a stock Seiko bracelet will not make any sound.

·

Looser

I’m still struggling to rationalise why it took 5 years to take a link out, and someone had the gall to charge you $20.

Well I have 40 watches. And I could have not had the link taken out after I was quoted how much they would charge. I just took the $20 bill out of my wallet and gave it to Jenny. Then 15 minutes later I spent $26 on a bottle of Bombay gin, went home ,made a stiff cocktail and admired my just fitted watch.

·

I wear mine EXTRA loose.

“Spoiled douchebag finance bro on a summer vacation” level loose.

For some reason I was never able to either find a leather strap that would actually fit and be comfy or poke another “in between” hole without massacring the strap out of this world. So I choose (subjectively) the lesser evil and put an end to unnecessary strap violation.

Now, I was never a fan of bracelets until not so long ago (literally 2023), so I’ve been clueless about micro adjustments. But habits are forming anyways, so now even with micro adjustment I would still prefer to wear watch loose.

·

I wear it just a tad loose to accommodate swelling.

·

NATO and leather straps = exact fit if possible. Bracelet = slightly loose.

·

I wear a little loose . Very cool watch by the way

Touché. My old watchshop guy charges $2 per sizing... N if you're a regular... Free. 😁

Perlon never heard of that

ClockworkSynergy has a great selection of “double braided perlon” straps. So comfortable, breathable, and infinitely adjustable.
