Timegrapher...update

After a post yesterday and some very useful posts

I downloaded this app as recommended.

It seems pretty good and backed up what I knew about these 4 seiko's.

Very clever picking up the beat rate accurately.

I've only done dial up for now.

Oh and it works better if your phone is out of its case.... it did for me anyway

Thanks

Very nice of you

That's the app I used for a while before l got a timegrapher.

I checked it while simultaneously using the timegrapher.  The beat rates are very close, but the beat error does vary a considerable amount between the two. I'm assuming the timegrapher is the more accurate device of the two. It certainly would be a good device to screen a new movement before purchasing.

Yes the app is an interesting thing but as you say a proper timegrapher has to be more reliable

Have you compared the app‘s measurements to measurements taken by a real TimeGrapher yet? Somebody on Reddit once explained that it’s virtually impossible to get accurate measurements with the phone‘s microphone as the sampling rate is way too low to be able to register all ticks of the movement precisely. And missing beats does negatively influence and thus invalidate the measured value.

No I haven't got anything to compare the app to.

It was more a curiosity as to how the apps work.

As you say a proper timegrapher would be the ideal choice
