StudioUnderd0g, a perfect brand for younger collectors? What other great brands or watches are out there for younger collectors? Me and my son are looking forward to your comments ๐
The first one that comes to mind would be seiko 5. They have smaller sized watches at very affordable prices and a lot of them are automatic.
That's a great one! Great automatic movement and there are also many colors to choose from ๐๐ป a Swatch watch with a System 51 movement could also be a fun choise
Timex Expedition, Camper, and Q series. Seiko 5 SNXS7x series, SNK800 series, and perhaps an SKX013 diver. Vaer have a good array of collections which will always have a 36mm variant. Check out also Undone watches.

Those are nice too I have one and it's great and fun colors but it may be a bit large for your son's wrists
Both offerings from StudioUnderd0g are totally ๐ spot on. I'm loving all the colour versions + you're getting some quality movements under the hood.....he's setting the bar high at an early age!

The Undone Urushi was on top of his list, but at the end he wanted the StudioUnderd0g. Timex is also great. I didn't knew Vaer before, their fieldwatches are looking very cool!
Love it, though that movement is not know for its toughness.
That is true in some cases, but if necessary it is fairly cheap to just replacement the whole movement in case it would brake down. That being said, lots of brands are using these movements like Lorier for example and i don't hear many complaints, so it should be fine.

I have had exactly 50/50 results. Two complete self imploded, but my Baltic and Studio Underd0g are fine, granted I may only wear them once a month.

Auch! That sounds not very positive. For my son it is a very special watch in his collection so he also doesn't wear it every day. Hopefully he can enjoy it for a long time.

I love my Watermelon and I think itโs awesome you are able to share the hobby with him.

Glad to know he liked the Undone Urushi. Guess the cool colors of the Studio Underdog won his heart. Yup, Timex and Vaer are cool. Enjoy the hunt with your son. I'm sure his tastes will grow and be enhanced the more he sees what's out there.
When I gave my son some money to buy a watch as his high school graduation gift from me, he chose this Sternglas Naos quartz...

Amazing watch hakki ๐คฉ I have to say, your son has great taste ๐๐๐ Fantastic and clean with that bauhaus design ๐ my son is interested in Japanese culture and Watermelons. So it was a choise between Japanese art with the special Urushi Lackered dial, or the colors of his favorite fruit with a great looking movement in the back ๐

That's good to hear your son is a bit clear about what he appreciates. Japanese culture and their watches are so intertwined. Seiko then will be a good rabbit hole to go down to hehe... I can't blame him as I too am biased towards their zen / minimalist designs. Here are the Seikos I got because of this bias...
Whoa, thanks for sharing! What a great pictures and watches, perfect way to start the early morning here in the Netherlands ๐คฉ All are beauties in their own right but I must say that i'm drawn to the 1970 Seiko DX 6106C-8240. Love the details like the beautifully shaped indices, the linnen dial, acrylic crystal and the Spanish day pronunciation. Great bracelet and strapoptions as well ๐ I will show them to my son when he is awake. Curious what he would pick out of these beauties ๐ Should be a fun discussion. Cheers!
At the DWC we love watches, especially ones with a good story or history to it. I am fascinated by these little mechanical works of art. "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is give...

Like others have said, Seiko 5. Especially the new GMT range.
