What do you think of this sketch?

Hey there. I am currently playing with the thought of opening up my own Microbrand and was sketching around a bit to find a look. What do you guys think of this sketch?

The second hand needs to be longer, IMO.

2nd hand needs to go away

One of the things that you will notice when you handle a lot of watches, especially lower quality watches that are assembled from readily available parts, is that there is frequently a mismatch with parts of the watch. The usual culprit is the handset. Often on old quartz watches the handset is too small. On 70 year old vintage watches the hands were often too close to the same size.

Your sketch has one of the flaws that I have seen Todd Snyder make in his Timex re-issues. You have an outer minute track and none of the hands are long enough to reach it. The minute and second hand should be long enough to make use of the track.

The convention on the inner circle is that it should align with the hour hand in approximate length. Instead, you have the hour hand reach to the indices. It is visually confusing, but not in the way that the minute and second hand are.

Also, the second hand is way too thick (that may just be the software that you are using). The pencil handset may not be the best option. You are looking for something with an Art Deco flair. You may wish to try a leaf, lance, or dauphine handset with a needle second hand.

But this is yours, not mine. I only answered because you asked. The items that I didn't mention are those that I like.

I would extend each fence post hour marker to or past the minute marker too.

Thank you for the feedback. I knew something was wrong with the hands, i just couldn‘t quite put my finger on it. :)
