BEATERS

I love watches and as my collection grows and I am blessed to buy nicer pieces some watches that I was so excited to get in the past have now become beaters.

I do have a nice G-Shock that matches my company colors so on days where my work is pretty labor intensive I defer to the G-Shock.

Then there are days like today. I am not doing anything super crazy in regards to labor but I will be loading in a bunch of road cases to a venue and, although highly unlikely, would be afraid of banging my nicer watches against door frames or anything else. But I also want to wear something nicer than a G-Shock. So I meet half way and grab one of my cheaper divers. In this instance it’s the #Orient FAA02003B9

I’m also on the Harley today which is why I went with this watch. All black Harley, black outfit, black watch!

So let’s see those beaters!

Great choice. I own a Ray 2 as well, and went cycling with it this morning

I've always like the all black Ray 2.

I suspect a few on here would look at my collection and say they are all beaters lol. However, this little $90 Addies Dive Flieger Watch as been my go to of late. Solid NH35 work horse movement, easy to read dial, great lume, 100m water resistance with a screw down crown, sapphire crystal, and nicely brushed stainless steel case that can take a few knocks (and has). Only thing I miss when I wear this is the uni-directional bezel to fidget with.

Love that Ray Raven II.  I have a Mako II, Mako USA II, and a few different generation Kamasu's. Always thought the Ray Raven II looked rad but never pulled the trigger.

For the longest time a Marathon GSAR was my beater. Sold that one and eventually bought a MSAR for the same purpose.

A Casio DW-291H-1BV is my beater now. I usually use it to set the time on my other watches as well.

That's a sharp looking watch! Almost all my watches are "beater" watches but i mostly wear g shocks.

In my opinion, the lack of financial value doesn’t make it a beater. It’s the value you place on that watch. If it means something to you, it it looks amazing in your eyes, than it holds more value to you than the financial value it may hold.

So wear your $90 watch with pride if you like it! I have some watches that are $75 including my grandfather Bulova that I’d NEVER sell. I’d sell my speed and sea master before I’d sell that watch…

Nice! Orient doesn't get enough credit for their durability. And as for a bearer, you just can't go past the GShock. They'll be digging them up 1000 years from now still working. 😂😂. @thatguy306 mentioned AddiesDive via good old @aliexpress. I'll add Steeldive to the cheap "I don't care" beaters list

AUD$100 for this Cpt. Willard knock off (I mean "Homage"). Auto, sapphire crystal, 361 stainless, 200m and it's built like a tank! (And the lume is blinding😋)

Alternatively, an even cheaper but equally robust Quartz fieldwatch from Qimei:

Solid all round but not too in your face and AUD$70 on AliExpress. (that's like 2 dollars American?)
