Elgin - Kinetic?

So the second watch from the Elgin lot I bought. It's an interesting watch appears to be a mechanically driven quartz movement like a Seiko Kinetic. If anyone knows something about them I would appreciate your input. I would like to change out the integrated bracelet for a less ostentatious strap. It's similar to some of the Tag Heuer integrated bracelets with extended metal pieces in the middle. Does anyone know if curved spring bars would work?

The original Elgin stopped manufacture in the late 60's. The name has been sold to a number of Chinese manufacturers over the years.They have been ,since then, Elgins in name only with no connection with the original company. Gruen also suffered the same fate.
