Or, this is a very valuable fan. If you hadn't taken it out of the box it'd be worth $343k. Unfortunately, you've used it. It's worth $5! You should insure it for $7.
Well, it doesn't matter anyway. it's a family treasure. I couldn't sell it.
I bought my wife the stgf359. Ordered from Japan last Saturday, arrived today.
Many posts on this site and elsewhere caution about buying your partner a watch. They correctly point out that the other person wouldn't value the watch as much as you would. And they wouldn't appreciate the money spent on it.
(My wife corrects fountain pens. She'd probably prefer to spend the money on pens. )
However, I hope to prove those posts wrong. Almost every time I wear my baby snowflake my wife comments on the dial. She doesn't care about my actual GS watches. But the snowflake dial speaks to her.
So, fingers crossed.
I was desperate for ideas anyway. And with exchange rate I was able to buy the watch for ~$1600 including tax and shipping.

Bucherer (the first AD to participate in this CPO program) has the GMT Batman listed for £21k. Watchfinder UK has the same watch listed for £15k. This does not look compelling at all. If anything, my theory is that Rolex and the CPO will artificially prop up the market price of their watch to make the retail price for new pieces seem more attractive
Several people have suggested this might decrease prices in the used market. I don't see why.
If anything this may encourage more people to buy Rolex watches. Given the constrained supply, that'll just push prices up higher.
Maybe that's why they are doing this now. The market is softening. So add more fuel to the fire.
