Neither Timothy Dalton or Roger Moore or their watches did anything for me. Then Daniel Craig goes and reps Omegas and now I need some Seamaster in my life.

I guess besides the watch , it’s like which is your favorite Bond actor? My generation was Dalton & Brosnan , But the whole Omega paying the 007 franchise was a little too much for me

My first Bond movie was Living Daylights but Brosnan was my Bond for Goldeneye64, the forefather of modern day multiplayer first person shooters. Craig looked like a thug but Casino Royale and Skyfall won me over.

Craigs Casino Royale was hell of a movie I totally agree with that! But all the stuff that made his Bond great having a darker violent killer like , Dalton was already doing all this 20 yrs earlier

Meh, Dalton’s kills were relatively clean and benign. Craig got tortured and his meat and 2 veg got messed up. His little pinky is more skilled than Dalton’s 🤣

Yeah, being in that chair wouldn’t have been very pleasant.

Movies are mostly made up from fictions, so watches or any artifacts based on these fictional tales have little influence on my buying decisions.

Factual historical or personal events are completely different: Omega Speedmaster for NASA or Blancpain 52 Mil-Spec for US navy divers come to mind :)

I’m a Bond fan, so Bond watches do appeal to me. However in recent years the Bond premium has risen to ridiculous levels imo, and sadly that has deterred me from any related purchases.

·

Honestly when I bought my Seamaster I hadn’t known the Bond affiliation. I had seen My Dad’s 2264 on wrist for 7 years everyday. So I have the skeletonized hands and he has the Sword hands 2254

·

I've loved watches my whole life but I'll admit that James Bonds Goldeneye is what brought Omega to my attention. Then from there I learned about the Speedmaster and it's connection to NASA and I was hooked. N

Connery was THE bond. But he wore a Submariner....when Ian Fleming gave 007 an Explorer if you read carefully. So I LOVE those two watches....and the Pulsar from Live and Let Die. I've never owned an Explorer, but I did own the original Explorer II - and the Pulsar and Submariner.

It was BOND that got me into watches. 😎

Always loved watches, but md bond definitely added to it.

I haven't watched a Bond movie after getting into the watch hobby, so I really have no idea, but this is a good topic... Connery was my #1 Bond, so I probably should re-watch his movies and see what he was wearing. 🤔

To go in another direction than James Bond, I Loved Men in Black as a kid, and I have the same name as the watch (didn't know about Elvis until I started searching for one).

·

Had no idea Tag was featured in a Bond movie! 🤙❤️

I got rid of it because I couldn’t get it to fit perfectly. Watch really has no micro adjustments. So it fit really tight or just a hair to loose. Other than that it was beautiful, quality amazing.

Yeah I know what you mean, I had the same issue will my blackbay 58, never fit properly , the clasp folding piece was blocking one of the links so again too loose or too tight , I upgraded to the Submariner and thanks to the glide lock system had a perfect fit, the seamaster problem I heard about this when they brought out the No time to die version, only good if you have big wrists.

Very true my Pelagos’s were the same. And I’m not a fan of NATO’s

It’s more complex — EON (the Bond Producers) and their costume designer approached Omega. Because of their real world naval associations. Then Omega decided to go all in basically. Worked out well for both of them, all things considered. Brosnan and Craig also did well out of it.

I heard but don’t know if it’s true Rolex snubbed them first, but I guess Omega makes more sense considering how Rolex has evolved from being a rugged reliable tool watch to what it is today, also the omega CEO at the time said he would pay EON even more but insisted they must have the James Bond actor on there posters wearing the watch too.

There’s not really any snubbage to be done — Rolex had been worn by Bond before, but there was never an official relationship, or even an unofficial one. Just costuming. Omega were asked if they could provide a watch, and wanted that more complex product-placement deal, and then took it further. If they had said no, it’s possible he would have still worn an Omega. He wore a Rolex in the previous film with no fanfare, and a Tag with barely even a sign it was there in the previous as you show. I think it was… Lindy Hemming? Costumer for Bond, knew her dads Navy mates all wore Omega. Rolex was a Del Boy/Yuppie watch in reputation by that point, and the Seiko deal had worn out with Roger.

Outside of Bond, look at the Tag in Bourne Identity — that’s more your standard product placement/actor ambassador deal.

I think the Omega thing has worked out well for them both tbh.

These days Bond wears a Carhartt hat, not a trilby or whathaveyou 😆
