Why so negative? Let's put a big smile on this dark face!

I swear that the negative display on my GM-S5600 was designed specifically to make it hard to read and almost impossible to capture on camera.

It's murkiness is such a source of constant annoyance that I nicknamed it Lucas, Prince of Darkness, and relegated it to the role of a weekend watch, for when being able to read the time at a glance is less important to me.

But two things happened today that made me smile. The first is that since I got a set of JaysAndKays adapters it became possible to fit decent straps that made it feasible to wear during hot summer days without ending with an itchy and scratchy wrist.

The other nice thing that happened is that I managed to get the sun to cooperate and together with the CPL (Circular Polarizing Filter) on my aging G12, I got a few relatively good shots of the negative display.

Apparently miracles do still happen nowadays, even if they are rare and rather small.

Wearing the diminutive G-Shock on a tropic FKM strap is whole different experience from when it was still on the original plastic band.

Goodbye and good riddance to the stiffness and the sweat collecting by the bucket, welcome the soft and pliable feel and the comfortable fit.

I may try other straps in the future but for now this strap from Strapesco is doing a fine job.

Yeah negative display is cool, but I can't see shit. That's why I feel the need to mod mine with positive display.

I see what you did there

I have a few negative display watches, which I bought because they looked cool. Sadly, negative displays are more about looking cool than being useful. Kind of like “tactical” items.

Unsurprisingly this something that I'm also considering.

CPL's FTW.

I'm playing with some black most filters from NiSi on my GrIIIx. They do add some softness, but I am not good enough to notice anything super "crazy" lol.
