Racing Sunday.

Getting up and early has some advantages, one of them is that the light outside has an intensity and hue that makes for interesting effects and reflections.

So right now it's a race between the sun and myself to see if I can catch a nice mother of pearl tint on the Dan Henry 1962 racing chronograph. I probably fail but it's more of a problem with my skills than anything being wrong with the Dan Henry.

It originally came fitted to a very generic looking tan leather strap which got quickly changed to a ColaReb racing leather strap and I think that it's a better pairing since it's a type of straps that used to be in vogue during the 60's.

The Dan Henry 1962 got the vintage look spot on. I don't mind the mineral glass crystal as this is pretty much what was used, together with acrylic, during this period, but I do mind the VK63 meca-quartz movement because you can't really time a race with this chrono, unless it will last less than 60 minutes - which is the limit of the chrono module.

Therefore I can forget using the Dan Henry 1962 to time the 24 hours at Le Mans, which was probably one of the uses for these chronographs back in the 60's.

But today I'll just enjoy wearing a watch that has the right size, style and look to remind me that watches can be enjoyed even when they are not perfect.

Good strap match. You could time a Miami Grand prix round with this watch 😊 Nice photos as well.
