I'm up early and trying to catch on the camera the glitter of the gilt indices of the SARB017, but the Alpinist isn't willing to cooperate due to the lack of AR coating that is getting in the way.
Still, that gave me the time to reflect on why I like it so much. Oh yes, I know what attracted me to it at first, but that's only half the answer. It's a good thing the coffee is there to help me focus.
I think that my reasons are both style and comfort. I like the design of the SARB017 because it's so different and distinctive, creating something that is hard to pigeonhole, and yet very likeable.
The other reason relates to comfort. Its sub 40mm diameter and short L2L span are perfect for me. The weight is also well distributed on my wrist, and it sits very well on my wrist once fitted to a decent strap (the original is unfit for human consumption).
The dial, with its white "Alpinist" text and devoid of the latest uglifying elements wraps and ties it for me: A nice package that is a pleasure to wear.
I'm a big fan of watches that are interesting because they are either unique, have interesting features, well designed or simply offer a great value for their price.
Great shots, bud! Many have recommended using a polarized filter (CPL) to mute the glare on the crystal. I got one recently, but will still test it out in the coming days. Will share with you the results soon.

They were shot with a polarizing filter, this gives you an idea on how bad the glare and reflections were when I took these photos.

Oh yeah, observing further... they are polarized shots. Some have used a black & white reversible cardboard (illustration board) to mute the light from direct angles. But, that can be extra work. As it is though, your shots are quite good, with the slight glare creating a sunrise effect and texture. It's a good perspective shot. Your shots also highlight the beauty of its gilt indices and handset. There's always beauty in imperfection. Cheers!
Yes I know that I can use drop clothes or boards to mask and shade, but I decided that it started to sound too much like WORK, of which I already have enough, while all I really want to do is relax in the early morning with a cup of coffee and a book and do absolutely nothing.
That’s mine, I took a photo when I got it new in 2017 because I couldn’t believe how good it was for the £370 price tag, it’s still amazes me and is probably the one watch I’ll never part with.

Very cool!
